She Leads Retreat Description

For twelve years, the She Leads conference has been motivating, equipping, and training leaders in the Northeast and online. Many of you have asked us to hold a She Leads retreat, and we have listened. So, here we go!

If you are a woman leading in your church or community ministry, no matter your denomination or church affiliation, this is a great training opportunity for you and those who serve with you!

Since COVID, many women have missed the interaction of being in person and subsequently have become lonely and desire to reconnect with other leaders. Much like our one-day conferences, you will find encouragement and wisdom from seasoned leaders to better equip you for serving Christ in your home, church, community, ministry, and marketplace. We want to build into your lives with passion and help you walk away refreshed in your calling and encouraged to step out with a continued desire to impact the lives of others.

Retreat Information

1. Who is the She Leads retreat for? Any woman that leads in her church, community, or marketplace and is looking for encouragement and refreshment along with biblical training.
2. What to expect: Keynote and Round Table Sessions | Worship | Panel Discussion and laughter from Sue Duffield. Plus free time to explore downtown Bethlehem.
   • Refreshment in your calling/vocation
   • Relaxed atmosphere
   • Rejuvenating discussion lead by seasoned leaders 
3. How do I secure a spot for the retreat? You can pay a $100.00 non-refundable deposit or pay in full.
4. Location: Hyatt Place Bethlehem, nestled in the quaint downtown of Bethlehem, Pa—The Christmas City (perfect time of year for our retreat)
5. Dates: Because leaders are busy on weekends, we have made this retreat during the work week: Monday – Wednesday, Dec. 4-6.
6. Schedule: Check in to the hotel by 3 pm Monday. Monday night dinner at 6:00 pm followed by first session. Tuesday: Morning & Evening sessions, round table discussion, and free time in the afternoon. Wednesday: Morning session and round table discussion. Retreat ends by 12:30 pm.
7. Meals Include: Monday: Dinner | Tuesday: Breakfast & Dinner | Wednesday: Breakfast
8. Cost:  1 person to a room: $560 | 2 people to a room: $395 per person | 3 people to a room: $335 per person | 4 people to a room: $299 per person. Retreat costs include: hotel, meals, and sessions.
9. You’re local and don’t need hotel: We would love for you to join us for the sessions and dinners. Day rate for all three days: $210.00. Breakfast will be on your own. Breakfast is only for overnight guests.
10. Additional costs: Parking in parking deck – $10 a day

Meet our Retreat Team:

Jessie Seneca is the founder of More of Him Ministries, She Leads Retreat and The Real Mom Conference. She has been leading women in the local community and church for 30 years. She also works with Lifeway as a You Lead trainer. She enjoys seeing women get into the Word of God and the transformation it brings into their lives. Jessie has also shared her ministry with women throughout the US and Canada. Through God’s Word, Jessie shares what true leadership looks like along with practical teachings from her personal experiences. She is the author of two Bible studies and seven books. You will be enlightened by her leadership book: Abound, A Call to Purposeful Servant Leadership. Verna Bowman is an author, conference speaker, blogger at Encouraging Women One Story at a Time. Serving for decades through various roles of ministry has given Verna insight and understanding to the needs of women today. Her mission is to inspire women to a deeper faith through God’s Word and through personal stories of His faithfulness. Her story has been featured on the 700 Club and shared through countless publications and devotionals. She is also the author of Crumbs Along the Broken Path and Gathering Seeds of Encouragement. Verna is a recent widow, a proud mom of four, a gramma to more – and every one of them has provided amazing stories that fill her many journals! She also continues to work in the medical community. Author, Speaker, Singer – Michele Brands has over 25 years of leadership experience in the church as well as the corporate board room. A gifted encourager and leader, she helps women grow deeper in faith through her speaking, teaching, coaching and prayer ministry. Founder of Gathered in Grace Ministry and the online group Women Gathered, Michele leads women of all faiths through the Bible. She has written several Bible studies including, Discover Yourself in the Women of the Bible and co-authored Do Not Worry, Biblical Time Management Bootcamp and On Guard. A certified integrative health coach, Michele balances writing and speaking while working as the Network Director of Women’s Imaging for a large health network. Wife to Rob and mom to six, Michele loves hiking, biking and spending time outdoors. A fast-paced gate, encouraging smile, people-centered focus, and “GO FOR IT” attitude . . . it must be Denise Maiatico, Vice President Meyer Jabara Hotels. Denise is a hands-on leader with twenty plus years in the hotel and hospitality industry who is also willing to roll up her sleeves and wash dishes, turn rooms, set an event, and greet guests with the best of them. Denise has built a ministry around hospitality not only as a profession, but also as a life’s purpose. She enjoys teaching others tips to invite more hospitality into their everyday lives and interactions. As author of “Hospitality and the Holy Spirit.”, Denise shares stories and perspectives about what the Bible tells us about taking good care of people. She has received numerous sales and leadership awards from various hotel brands and community organizations. Most recently, in 2022, Denise was recognized by Aspioneer Magazine as one of the “Top 10 Admired Women in Hospitality.” She is married to Gary for over 20 years and together they have raised their beautiful daughter, Hope. Deanna Slamans is a conference speaker, author, and educator, who has served in ministry for over 25 years.  Her memoir, Faith’s Pursuit: Understanding God’s Faithfulness in Suffering, tells her life story of growing up with mentally ill parents and later living at the Milton Hershey School, a boarding school for at-risk children. Deanna’s full testimony interview aired on the Harvest Television Show in 2015. Her transparency and encouragement keep conference attendees and workshop participants wanting to learn more about how to grow deeper in their faith. In 2016, Deanna partnered with Real Women of the 21 Century to record DVD Bible studies for women, which include a three-part series titled: The Genesis of Woman, and a series for incarcerated women titled, Living Better (2018). Laura Sommons Laura Sommons is currently the women’s ministry leader at her local church where she has served on staff for the past twelve years. In 2016 the Lord led her to begin a speaking ministry; Lavishly Loved, where she shares the love of the word of God to women. The Lord has shown her that the two ministries are not separate but that she has been called to lavishly love the women of her church as well as outside the church, her community, and her family. Her heart for women is that they will come to a place of feasting on the word, and on Christ, the only one who satisfies. Laura has been married for 31 years to her beloved, Shawn. Sue Duffield’s best-loved song, “LOL”, is a musical and whimsical view of our crazy texting social media world. She loves to make people laugh with her off-the-wall Jersey logic and sacred sarcasm. Not surprising, Sue has found it’s a style of humor that resonates with audiences everywhere. This singer/songwriter and former radio personality tours with her comedy and musical concerts since 1974. Her virtual concert series called “Couch to Kitchen” has been going strong since the Covid year, with almost 1.5 million views every Thursday night LIVE on Facebook and YouTube. She was recently nominated “Top Five Comedian of the Year” by the Inspirational Country Music Association for 2017. Sue rides a Harley, is an avid social media junkie and attempts to walk 10,000 steps a day! Jersey girl Sue married her high school sweetheart, Jeff Duffield, who is a keyboardist, arranger and studio musician, both residing in the Nashville TN area.
