Well, just let me say this, I have five blogs running through my mind as I write this to you today. So stay with me! We recently spent our family vacation in Hilton Head, SC and enjoyed every minute being together. Of course, it can take you ‘til mid-week to relax and then wish you had another week to embrace it. About a month ago our youngest daughter, Sarah, got engaged this summer to a wonderful young man, Jonathan and we are thrilled to walk this journey with them. As I sat on the beach, rode bicycles and took in the sights with my family, I tried so hard to embrace each moment. If you are like me, you try to live in the very moment happening, but it seems as soon as you embrace it, it becomes a memory. Time slipped by as my mind went from ponytails to veils. One morning while vacationing, my girls and I decided to stop in a quaint little bridal boutique the next town over. You know, the ones you only read about in a good novel. Yup, we walked into one. We never thought we would walk out with her bridal gown, but we did! As I watched her try on dresses, I was in awe of the woman she has become and her deepened friendship with her sister. I just wanted to take a snapshot and hold onto it for a while. Yes, so thankful for iPhones that can capture these special times.
As a mom, there seems to never be enough time to pour into our children the way we wish we could. However, God has shown me, the desire to continue that pouring doesn’t end when they leave for college, move out or get married. It is a full-time job that lasts a lifetime. While reading 1 Chronicles 28 and David’s last instructions to the people and to his son, Solomon, I want you to embrace this moment. 1 Chronicles 28:9 “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.
Know, Serve, Seek and Find. Is this the longing you want to embrace daily as you serve Him among your family, your community and your church? If it is, hold on and get ready for the ride of your life. The best way to pour into others is to daily pour God’s Word into yourself.
May we be women that make a difference!
Journeying with Him,
