Do you believe faith can move mountains? There are times I doubt God’s plan and my faith seems too small to even move me off the couch, let alone move a mountain. Yes, it takes a deliberate approach to choose faith over fear – to choose trust over doubt.
Even though God’s Word says, we only need the faith of a mustard seed to move a mountain (Matthew 17:20), at times, it doesn’t seem like enough faith to move an ant hill. I believe we all feel this way at different times in our lives. So, despite our human understanding, you and I need to believe and trust the promises of God. The promise of Psalm 121, tells us to raise our eyes up to the mountains and find our help from the Lord. Our God doesn’t slumber or sleep. He is our keeper and our shade. He will guard our coming in and our going out.
Even though difficulties come our way, they don’t have the power to separate us from God and His protection. And in the end, God’s sovereignty trumps our desires. If God’s plans are different than ours, we must accept His plan and adjust. Otherwise, we can become stuck.
Do you find yourself struggling to trust God with a situation (mountain) that is in front of you? There are different reason for why we allow fear to grip us and at times cause you to stand still and not move forward.
- Fear of loss
- Fear of failure
- Fear of rejection
- Fear of abandonment
- Fear of __________
Fear and faith cannot occupy the same space. You and I will need to choose to replace fear with faith. We do this every time we make a decision to trust God and not our own feeling or philosophies.
His Word tells us, without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). He also reminds us that He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)
We can’t live in the what if.
When we go to the what if, we lose sight of Jesus and the present. You can lose the joy of what God wants you to experience in the now. The what if may never happen. The what if may never come to fruition causing you to lose the memory of the moment.
Don’t allow a mountain to block your way from moving forward. Yes, there will be obstacles, detours, and you may even lose your footing. But, there is none like the God, Who rides the heavens to your help, And through the skies in His majesty. The eternal God is a dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms (Deuteronomy 33:26-27).
Keep trusting. Keep praying. Keep climbing. Keep living.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
