Are you suffering from burnout? Tired of circling the same obstacles? Or just plain exhausted? Many of today’s women suffer from the same things you do. As I am preparing for LifeWay’s YOU Lead conference this coming weekend and our SHE Leads event this summer, this has really spoken to me. I certainly have not arrived and conquered exhaustion, but I am much better that I was five years ago. No matter if you are a mom tired at the end of the day, a ministry leader feeling burnout or a high-powered career woman, these areas if followed, can increase your gumption and refuel your tank.
- Begin with Prayer – Luke 6:12-16 – Jesus went away by Himself with God to consult who He should choose as his apostles. Retreat to the secret place with God for rejuvenation and revelation.
- Admit it – Numbers 11:14 – Just as Moses told God, I alone am not able to carry all this people, because it is too burdensome for me. Tell God how you really feel and then listen for His still small voice for a solution. Most times all you need is to slow down and spend some time in His presence.
- Delegate – Numbers 11:16 – Moses listened to God and chose seventy men to carry out the task, so you should share your burden: give out chores to family members, empower those under your influence, build a team with like-minded people. Not mini-me’s but those with the same end goal in mind.
- Send Out – Number 13:2 – Moses empowered those he put in position. He sent them out, everyone a leader among them. By doing this, you will free up yourself to do the things of importance for yourself, your ministry or your workplace. More will be accomplished because there are multiple hands and the burden will be lighter.
- Stop – Deuteronomy 2:3 – Stop circling the same obstacle. Obstacles such as: I am not good enough, I am not worthy enough, seeking the approval of man, feeling of despair, asking forgiveness of the same thing repeatedly or maybe it is perfection. Whatever it may be for you, that you just seem to be going “around and around” with, it has been long enough, turn north and head the other way. Arise and set forth (Deut. 2:24).
Journeying with Him,
