When asked how he mixed his faith with his sprinting, Eric Liddell (on whom the movie ‘Chariots of Fire’ is based) cheerfully replied, “God made me fast. And when I run, I feel His pleasure.” Whether Eric preached, ran or served, his life was lived to the glory of God.
Do you and I have this same attitude?
No matter what you do, you do for the glory of God?
1 corinthians 10:31 encourages us, whether then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
What is your whatever?
We all lead different lives, walk different paths, have different talents and gifts and are uniquely created for a purpose that only you can fulfill.
How we live out our whatever to Him in our homes, schools, ministries, and workplaces can either encourage or deter people from drawing closer to Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:9, So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please Him, has become my 2016 motto and lifetime personal challenge.
Not a challenge I always get right, but one I aim for.
My whatever, can not only change daily but moment by moment.
My whatever is what-ever I am focusing on from a daily task to an impactful message.
From a thought to an action.
Do I do it as if I am doing it unto the Lord?
A few questions you can ask yourself to test your conduct by whether or not it manifests the character of God
- Does it please God? (2 Cor. 5:9)
- Is it beneficial? (1 Cor. 6:12)
- Is it enslaving? (1 Cor. 6:12)
- Will it hinder the spiritual growth of a sister/brother? (1 cor. 8:13)
- Does it edify (1 Cor. 10:23)
I know it can be hard in certain situations to live this out in your everyday lives, but this I do know – when you seek Him with all your heart, He will change your attitude, your day and even your choices.
Allow the love of God to be poured out within your hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to you (Romans 5:5) and in return the way you view your circumstance will reflect His love rather than your own desires. You will exchange selfishness for “other directedness” and He will become your spotlight.
Whatever you do today, wherever you go, and whoever you meet, aim to please Him and try to be an encouraging witness for God. Whatever you accomplish or fulfill, give God the credit for allowing you the skills, gifts, talent and time to achieve your goals.
In everything, give glory to God!
Journeying with Him,
