Do you ever hear the enemy’s lies that you aren’t worthy? That you aren’t enough?
You may say things like: I don’t feel good enough, strong enough, pretty enough, or skinny enough. Does the evil one whisper, perhaps he shouts, but the message is always this: “Who do you think you are to ______?”
As you may know, oftentimes people choose one word to carry them through the upcoming year. A word they will focus on and build their mindset around. Well, my word for 2023 is—Resilience. This word has flooded my mind from motherhood to leadership. And let me just say, we have come out of the last couple years of pushing through, adapting, and pivoting. You are stronger than you think! You are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37). God will fill your “not enough” with abundant provisions. John 10:10 says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I (Jesus) came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” And we can experience the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living (Ps. 27:13).
Yes, because you have walked through these couple years. . . you are resilient!
There were probably times you didn’t feel much like pushing through and maybe it didn’t look like you hoped for. . . but you are standing and you are walking into 2023. You got this! You are stronger when you allow God’s strength to carry you. When you allow the mighty work of the Holy Spirit’s power to work within you (Colossians 1:29), you can combat the negative talk that arises and sidetracks you from the work God wants you to accomplish.
Resilience comes when God takes a painful circumstance in our lives and not only heals us but also makes us even stronger than we were prior to the struggle.
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9
“You are more than a conqueror.” (Romans 8:37).
“But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the preserving of the soul.” (Hebrews 10:39)
Resilience comes when we abide in Him and His love!
“. . . Abide in His love.” (John 15:9)
If you could live your life from the overflow of fully knowing and believing the love God has for you, imagine the difference your life would make. Imagine how you would see yourself through our heavenly Father’s eyes. Yes, He wants us to live loved!
Once you become intimate with Jesus and experience His full love for you: He can fill the void of loneliness, you won’t lack understanding/compassion, He will provide freedom, and you will begin to experience you are enough!
Resilience comes when we build our foundation on Him.
“Everyone who hears these words of mine and does them is like a wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the flood came, and the winds beat against that house, but it did not collapse because its foundation had been laid on rock.” (Matthew 7:24-25)
When you and I abide in His love, we will have a firmer foundation, a stronger confidence, richer joy, and greater stability.
Apart from Him you can do nothing. (John 15:5)
Empty without His fullness
Clueless without His wisdom
Broken without His wholeness
Helpless without His strength
Hopeless without His filing
So, for 2023, look no further than Jesus. Keep your eyes on Him and not on what the world provides or what others think you should be. Allow Him to be enough in your life and the resilience you need will increase with strength to face each day.
You got this, my friend!
Journeying with Him,
