Are you anything like me? As you look at your desk or your side table, there sits that stack of books that you still need to read? And the pile continues to grow as your time dwindles. You keep thinking next week, I will get to at least one of those books and then something else takes over your time or you start it, just like you started to read the other five and there is a book marker in all of them twenty pages deep. Oh, you have good intentions, but there they still sit.
There is one book, that we shouldn’t just let sit there waiting to be read. You guessed it, your Bible. How many times do you pass your Bible and look at the bookmark where you last left off and think I need to get back there? Today is that day!
As I read my morning devotions today, God reminded me that we don’t live by bread alone, but man lives by everything that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord. (Deuteronomy 8:3b).
In His word we find, His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by his own glory and goodness. (2 Peter 3:1)
Deuteronomy 8 continue to remind us to not forget God in the good times and who the giver of life is.
10 When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. 11 Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day.
18 But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.
Ladies, as you ponder these truths, thank God for His goodness to you, that He is the Giver of Life and all power comes through our connection to and with the Creator of the universe. He will accomplish that which we think is unattainable. And when He does accomplish, DON’T FORGET, it is He who began a good work in you and He will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.(Philippians 1:6)
And as He becomes Life and Breath to us, Christ will become written into the structure of our being.
He will become a watermark on the paper of our heart.
Journeying with Him,
Jessie
