Preparing for an upcoming Mother/Daughter retreat, the first session is Friendship 365. This is something God convicted me of years ago, but recently reminded me of again as I was studying the life of Enoch. A man from the Old Testament that I always wished there was more about in scripture, but I guess God gave us just what He wanted us to know about him. Enoch’s name in Hebrew means, dedicated. In the New Living Translation, it states that Enoch enjoyed a close relationship with God throughout his 365 year life-span (Genesis 5)
God is looking for a walking partner, a Friendship 365. Not 364 days, but 365. He wants to walk with you all day, every day, all year long for the rest of your earthly time.
At the beginning of my walk with God, it wasn’t pretty. For the first five years, I hardly opened the Bible engraved with my name which I received when I accepted Christ into my heart at the age of eighteen. But then I joined a Bible Fellowship Coffee in a neighborhood near where I lived that changed all of that. I started on a twenty-five year journey with God down Rout 66. I found God’s word to be life-changing. I became addicted. Once I committed to a daily reading, I wanted more and more. It transformed my mind, my attitude and love for others. And most importantly my love for God and walk with Jesus.
Just as I enjoy walking with my friend which makes our six mile walk enjoyable and exercise fun. We talk non-stop and our friendship deepens. That is what can happen when we walk with God 365.
If you’re finding it difficult to walk with Him, today is the day that all can change. Come back to Him and LIVE (Amos 5:4). Yes, The eyes of the Lord search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him (2 Chronicles 16:9). He is waiting to meet with you in that secret place that only you and Him can go.
The word of God from Psalm 119 tells us that God’s word, revives us, keeps us pure, is a great counselor, strengthens, teaches us discernment, wisdom and knowledge, directs our steps, lights our path and will awestruck’ us.
Now that sounds worthy of our time and days, 365 days a year!
Journeying with Him,
Jessie
