Grace Aware
Do you ever have those days, weeks or months when God seems to be hitting you over the head with a particular topic? Everywhere you turn, listen and read, there is that one specific word? Well, mine has been GRACE.
Since the beginning of January my devotional has been on Grace, I have received numerous articles on Grace and songs of Grace are played. As I continue to reflect on the book of Colossians, Paul begins and ends with Grace.
Most of us know Grace defined as God’s free and unmerited favor toward sinful man. But I recently read that the “shorthand” for Grace is Redeeming Love. I just love this! Maybe it’s because I enjoy Francine Rivers book, Redeeming Love, so much. I don’t know, but it really brought Grace alive to me through these two words. God’s Grace upon us at the moment of salvation is what life is all about, but there is so much more to Grace. Not only do we need it at the moment we receive Jesus, but we need it to sustain us every day. We need to be Grace Aware; there is a strength that far exceeds our own resources, which means we don’t need to stumble along our journey unaided. Oh, that we would be captured by His Grace daily.
John 1:16 For of His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.
This means that we have had Grace piled upon Grace in the experiences of our Christian life and how grateful we should be for this free gift that cost God, His greatest possession in sending His Son, Jesus, so that we would have life abundantly.
A recent challenge spoken from a woman at Bible study: If we would just have 10% of the Grace that God has bestowed upon us, toward others, what a better place it would be.
Oh, let us live Grace Aware lives, one that saves and sustains.
Journeying with Him,
Jessie
